We made it!!! After an 11:30 pm departure from Sea Tac we arrive in Houston at 5:00 am Houston time (3:00 am Walla Walla time). After a 10:20 departure we were on the way to San Jose, Costa Rica. The flight was uneventful, and we were able to identify the Yucatan Peninsula as we flew over. Arrive at SJO at 2:00 pm and cleared immigracion with no problems. Collected our bags and it was on to customs (a nonevent - just turned in our declaration and fed our bags to a scanner and we were done). Met up with Jose from WildRider Car rental to pick up our Daihatsu Bego. Jose gave us a thorough intro to the car and Costa Rica. Very thorough and informative. Then he drove us to the Aloft Hotel in Santa Ana where we spent our first night.

We walked down and crossed Rte 147 to go to a local restaurant, Soda Tapas, that was recommended by the desk clerk. Crossing 147 at rush hour was a life threatening event. It was rush hour and traffic was bumper to bumper. No, I stress NO, traffic lights or crosswalks. On the way we passed KFC, Applebee's, Taco Bell, Wendy's and, of all things, a Curves workout place. We truly live in a global corporate world. Soda Tapas was outstanding.
After checkout, we're off to La Fortuna, about a 3 hour drive.
Kelsey and Erika had the chicken dinner, at 4'000 Collones each, about $8 USD:
