The Roof, the Tar Roof

I've spent the past couple weekends with the heat gun (with burned hands to prove it) removing roofing tar from the roof of the trailer. Last weekend, I removed the old (leaky) roof vent, and replaced it with a new vent, secured with putty tape. Next step is to apply a healthy coating of Dyco 20/20 elastomeric roof sealant to the vent and all seams on the roof. Hopefully, this will resolve the leak issue!

We finally tossed in the towel on car camping. In 2006, we decided it had to be an RV, trailer or nothing. After Mr. Grossters did some research the decision was to go with a so-called "Vintage Trailer," something some of our friends have described as a "POS." Requirements were, something easily towable (GVW undere 2500 lbs), functioning stove, refrigerator and, last but not least, toilet. We found it on Craigslist on Whidbey Island, Washington, a mere 300 miles from home. We went over in mid-December, 2006, and towed her back without incident. Upon arrival in cold Eastern Washington, the water system promptly froze up. We've since fixed that problem and checked all the systems -- all work, including the ever-important toilet!!! Only problem is a minor leak in the roof vent, which will be repaired in the near future.
